POP bullshit

I picked up the last POP magazine of newsstands for the first time. Being new to the fashion world, I am trying to figure out which publications I dig most. I have not found any fashion magazine to be perfect. I am working on a list, which I will publicize at some point.

For now, all I can say is that there is this phenomenon in the fashion world that is a little hideous: People try to interpret too much into clothes. Too often have I watched clips on Style.com where so called crtics stand in front of the camera and interpret the biggest none sense into a collection, trying to make sense of it on a level it was never intended for. Why can't they just take the clothes for what they are:Beautiful.

On a similar note, I have found the shown article in the last POP magazine. Can ANYONE tell me what the following is supposed to mean:

The human being I no longer the pre-historic creature in a post-modern environment: ours is a post-historic, meta-modern world in which the very nature of change is ever changing. In which what’s done is undone. Meaning as we know it is no more tangible than a white deer of the desert in the headlights.

Are you fucking shitting me? Come on POP you can do better. Who wants to read so much POP Plato?

The Standard NYC

So I had a friend staying at the Standard in NYC for a couple of weeks. One day visiting him I saw their "Day Planner." I found the way they categorized the night life in NYC rather amusing...

Of course I called them to ask about the places that would fall under some categories:

Models + Bottles: 10June and Marquee
O-Twins Hang Out: Boom Boom Room and Avenue
Hipster Straight: LES or East Village

Nr. 1

Here we go. My very first blog entry ever. Entry Nr. 1. I cannot say it has been widely anticipated, because as of now I am the only one that knows of this blog.

What it will morph into or why I am writing it is unclear and unrefined as of now. I have no clue what I will do with it, whether it will have a clearly defined "raison d'etre," or rather be all over the place. Funny enough that is quite similar to how I presently feel about myself and my purpose. Indeed, maybe that is why I am taking a stab at blogging. Trust me, I am the last person you would expect to blog. Mainly I suppose, I want a channel to direct my thoughts through, a channel that can be ignored or respected by my peers alike.

Vaguely defined, it will be fashion and lifestyle blog. We (I hope to be able to add some contributors to the roster at some point) shall praise, critique, and flat out destroy elements in the fashion scene. We will probably also take a stab at music, film, and art here and there.

I am a rather cynical, pessimistic, and harsh person (working on that hard core), so I pardon myself in advance for any views that may offend people. I will try to balance the good and bad.
